here’s another Retro Scifi film for the annals of Nostalgia! Jack Nicholson starts in Mars Attacks. The retro feel of this movie was surely influential in the latest sci-fi retro “Alien Trespass” (another of my favourite movies of late). I just love the eerie “oooo ooo” sounds in that 50’s science fiction movie style we have come to know as inherent to movies of that era. The boggle eyed aliens are just so hilarious, and yet somehow still seem to instill a xenophobic fear in us. Despite the hilarity of their appearance there remains the underlying worry (fear?) that perhaps the visitors might actually appear so; who knows after all? (lol) This tongue in cheek movie about Alien Invasion of Earth is a classic in it’s own right.
